Types of Modern Relationships - Playgard

From long term dating style to the latest- ‘No Strings Attached’ style, we humans have come a long way now in redefining relationships. Sure, labels are outdated for this generation yet we have chosen this list of top 9 types of prevalent relationships.

Know the rules of each and you’d rock the type;

1. Open Relationships:

A relationship where you are absolutely okay with your “serious” partner sharing physical intimacy with anyone they want, but reserve emotional intimacy just for each other. So, both, you and your partner can have as many sexual partners, but only one romantic partner. This one is supposed to be for open-minded partners who are ready to explore beyond their insecurities.

2. Friends with Benefits:

A “friends with benefits” relationship is an established platonic friendship. It begins when two friends agree to act on a mutual sexual attraction and outside of the sexual relationship, the partners choose to stay platonic. Be clear with your nutty-buddy about your feelings and things shall go as smooth as whipped cream.

3. Long-term:

Yes, that one. The one where they promise nothing less than the moon. In this case, marriage is the moon they reach for. The basis of this relationship is a promise that they yearn to never break. They go on with each other for years and years and never get tired of each other, at least, what it seems like when they are together.

4. Long distance relationship:

A long-distance relationship is pretty self-explanatory, as they only occur when partners have miles separating them. Due to the lack of physical intimacy caused by the couple’s physical separation, some choose to open their relationship while they live far apart. While the “long-distance” part of this relationship type is often temporary, some couples choose to live happily ever apart indefinitely. It’s 21st century folks, go facetime the love of your life.

5. Polyamorous Relationships:

When someone is polyamorous, that means they have more than one romantic relationship at a time. Often, polyamorous couples have multiple partners ranked as primary, secondary and so on but with the full knowledge and consent of all partners involved. The key to any successful relationship, but especially polyamorous ones, is honest and effective communication between all individuals involved.

6. Monogamous Relationships:

Monogamous relationships are the most traditional and the easiest to understand although toughest to maintain. Those in monogamous relationships only have one sexual-cum-romantic partner at a time. As vanilla as it sounds, the concept on the contrary, can be a thrilling ride altogether for demi-sexuals.

7. No label relationship:

Honestly, this generation has outgrown relationship labels. And this is just another invention where you don’t ask and you don’t tell. They don’t define what it is or let’s say they are just in there for a fun time with no commitments whatsoever.

8. Weekend fling:

In a modern society where dating apps are heavily banked upon and most individuals are working on weekdays, a weekend fling is what most of them look for. It’s not a one-night stand, it’s a weekend rendezvous they look forward to, after a tiring week.

9. One night stand:

Basically ‘Wham bam, thank you ma’am’ kinda encounter with the only expectation being that there shall be no further relations between the sexual participants. However, make sure you are well equipped with condoms while sleeping with a stranger.
